Who am I?
I am an artist and writer. I used to consider myself mostly an artist, but in recent months I’ve reimmersed myself in the written word, rediscovering my natural inclination to express myself in language.
I’ve always loved writing. But admittedly, I gravitated towards art simply because it was easier. Art allows you to interpret your experiences of the world in a visual, non-verbal and thus non-linear fashion. Images are immediate, whereas words need processing. Art doesn’t need to make sense in order to be appreciated. Not that words do, but there is a difference. (But I won’t get into that now. Maybe later if you ask.)
So why have I chosen to write more now instead of making art all day?
Because I am devoted to communication. Communication is the common thread between art and writing. Communication is the connecting of minds and souls in an effort to understand one another across the expanses of space and time. It is a way of coming together and sharing, with the aim to benefit everyone involved.
All art forms are a form of expression, and expression is a form of communication.
Maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini, ruled by Mercury, with an overpowering need to reach out and share ideas, assimilate and spread knowledge, comprehend different viewpoints, and somehow tie it all together and send it back out into the world…
In any case, here I am!
