Self-Portraits

Fiddling with Photoshop the other day, I put together this photo of me that was taken this past Christmas, with my drawing Unraveling the Telescopic Mind Incident. I made two versions, and I’m not sure which one I prefer. Any opinions? I like them both!

Hi, Thaneeya! My friend Kristin (http://kristinscreativejourney.blogspot.com/) pointed me to your inspiring art. I would say that I like the bottom one better. I like how it frames you and I like the angelic “halo” like effect it gives you.
They are both nice. I prefer the second one, since it appears more complete. The faded edges around the first one throw off the black/white balance a little and it makes me feel that I’m missing out on a lot of the detail. The central fade in the second one is balanced nicely with the portrait, so the effect is a little less obvious.
Thanks, Michael and Anne! I think I have to agree. I like the 2nd one better. I like how the face in the 1st one has a “celestial” effect, but the solidity of the edges in the 2nd one makes it a stronger piece.
Photoshop is addictive and fun!
Oops, “face” should have been “fade” in my previous comment. D’oh!
Bottom one, definitely.
I like the extra detail of the eyes around you and, like the above commenter, the “halo-effect.”
Photoshop is my friend…!
I’m going to be the odd man out here and vote for #1. I prefer the more ethereal look of it.
Ethereal is cool too! Thanks for casting your vote!
i like the 1st one, it feels more complete. It makes you look at you first but when you look at the beackground, gives you the feeling of moving foward… like for instance the beginning part of the movie star wars, when your reading about the beginning of the story and the words are moving foward the background is stars…that’s the same feeling i get so defenitely the first one
